Sacred within the Shinto faith and an formally designated nationwide treasure, the deer in Nara, Japan, are broadly recognized for roaming a public park and bowing for treats—though the animals lately have been dubbed the “devious deer” due to their increasingly demanding behavior.
These touring to the area to fawn over the uncharacteristically mannered creatures can now journey in an equally lovable coach. Operated by Kintetsu Railways, the Deer Prepare is decked out with lush, noticed seats, grassy flooring, handles formed like pudgy animals, and illustrations by Tokyo-based artist Gemi that rework the vehicles right into a whimsical, cervine world.
The specifically designed transit began working in late 2022 and runs between Nara, which is about 45 minutes south of Kyoto through rail, and Sannomiya. (through Spoon & Tamago)
